Job Purpose and ideal candidate information:

The International Logistics Coordinator II is an important position in our Company providing a high level of customer service and managing all aspects of shipment lifecycle including:

  • Freight booking

  • Creating BLs/AWBs

  • Tracking/Tracing

  • Arrival Notices

  • Pickup and Delivery

  • Importer Security Filing

  • FMC Rate Filing

  • AES Filing

  • Monitoring Customs Clearances

  • Issuing Delivery Orders

  • Invoicing

Maintain relationships with key customers, steamship lines, drayage companies, customs brokers and international freight forwarders to ensure that StepUp has the support and access to the right resources when fulfilling customer transportation/logistic needs.

Ideal candidates for this position are effective communicators working with external customers, vendors and internal co-workers acting as a hub for transportation coordination and success.

Candidates must also be attentive, innovative, highly organized and able to work in a fast-paced, high energy work group.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Manage ocean export and ocean import life cycle for key accounts.

  • Develop rate quotes for the movement of freight in close coordination with sales and existing customers.

  • Plan and directs flow of ocean export and surface traffic moving to gateway and then to overseas destinations.

  • Arrange Ocean freight import and export shipments with various steamship lines.

  • Prepare all documentation relating to shipments ensuring all documentation is checked accurately and dispatched in a timely manner.

  • Prepare, analyze, and submit documentation to include, ocean bills of lading, manifests, surface bills of lading, in-bond documentation, cargo receipts, commercial invoices, packing lists, and country specific forms.

  • Examine invoices and shipping manifests for conformity to tariff and customs regulations.

  • Prepare reports of transactions to facilitate invoicing of shippers and disbursements for carriers.

  • Resolve problems quickly that are related to payment and or shipment including problems related to payment and or shipment.

  • Provide and ensure a high level of customer service by developing and maintaining a strong relationship with customers' front line personnel in the various operating divisions and subsidiaries.

  • Anticipate, identify, and resolve problems which could delay the timely movement of freight.

  • Complete accurate data input or corrections into computer file.

  • Coordinate post entry activity on customer's behalf

  • Ability to sit and keyboard/talk on the phone for up to 8 hours a day.

  • Team player willing to step in to help others, provide input to help the team grow and go the extra mile

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years working in an operations position handling import/export ocean freight for an NVOCC, or ocean carrier.

  • Ability to negotiate rates.

  • Dangerous Goods Certification a plus

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations and other federal regulations and requirements with respect to specific area of expertise (CHB, Ocean Transportation, Surface Transportation) including:

  • Customs -Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT)

  • Security Awareness for Asset Protection and Prevention & Identification of Terrorism

  • Regulations regarding dangerous goods shipping and foreign regulations

  • Surface Transportation: regulations for import/export

  • Self motivated, driven with an ability to multi-task and be organized in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficient with computers, tracking systems and MS Office software.

  • Strong customer service, organizational and communication (written/oral) skills.

  • Must be able to read write and speak English fluently
